Dr Eva Coleman (Clinical Director)

I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Mentalisation Based Therapist with thirty years of experience in the therapy field.  I have worked in private practice, and set up and directed a   counselling and therapy service for women in Brighton and Hove ( Threshold Women’s Counselling).  I have worked in a medium secure hospital with personality disorder and mental illness, taught aspects of counselling and therapy, supervised those in practice, been a consultant and adviser to a number of local and national organisations and written many articles about psychotherapy. I have extensive experience in assessment for psychological therapy. I trained at the Guild of Psychotherapy, been a member of a gestalt in-service training group for over fifteen years, and I am a member of UKCP.

I have a deep committment to best practice and believe that by bringing together skilled and experienced practitioners from a wide range of disciplines we will be able to provide a high quality service which will enable each individual to find the treatment which is right for them. I also believe that those who cannot afford to pay should be able to access good quality treatment.

I have come to believe that whatever your theoretical orientation the most important part of one to one  therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist.  Self exploration, self acceptance , self development and  the resolution of problems are more likely to occur within the context of a safe and secure therapeutic relationship.   I aim to provide that kind of context so that together, the client and I are able to unravel the issues.
