Privacy Notice for New BTC clients

In accordance with new Government guidelines on data usage and storage – the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK Data Protection Act 1988 – Brighton Therapy Centre (BTC) requires your consent to hold and process any information about you.

We collect, store and process information about you to enable us to provide our services. This information includes your name, surname, date of birth, address, contact details and GP details as well as other personal information. Your personal data and initial assessment is stored at BTC with appropriate security measures.

All information, including client notes, that we collect and store about you is anonymised, stored behind lock and key and/or password protected electronic systems at our secure premises. BTC will keep this information for up to 7 years following the date of your last contact, as per our professional guidelines, at which point it will be deleted.

Due to the nature of work done and official authority vested in BTC, for Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children, if you inform us of an immediate and significant risk of harm to yourself or others, we reserve the right to contact the relevant authority (e.g. Adult Social Care, or your GP) and share information relating to this risk without your consent. We are also legally obliged to share any disclosures relating to money laundering and terrorism with or without your consent.
